INDICATIONS
Milbemax is indicated for cats in the treatment of mixed infections caused by immature and adult cestodes and nematodes from the following species:

  • Cestodes: Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp., Echinococcus multilocularis
  • Nematodes: Ancylostoma tubaeforme, Toxocara cati

The product can also be used for the prophylaxis of heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis) when indicated in conjunction with treatment against cestodes.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not use "tablets for small breed cats and kittens" in cats younger than 6 weeks and/or weighing less than 0.5 kg. Do not use "tablets for cats" in cats weighing less than 2 kg.

TARGET SPECIES
Cats.

DOSAGE FOR EACH SPECIES, ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION, AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
MILBEMAX tablets are administered in minimum recommended doses of 2 mg milbemycin oxime and 5 mg praziquantel per kg of body weight. Milbemax is given as a single dose, orally, along with a small amount of food or immediately after ingestion. This ensures optimal protection against heartworm disease.

Depending on the cat's body weight, the usual dosage is as follows:

>8 - 12 kg 1 1/2 tablets (elongated, dark red) -

MILBEMAX can be included in a prophylactic program for heartworm disease when indicated along with concomitant treatment against tapeworms. MILBEMAX has a duration of efficacy of up to one month in preventing heartworm disease. For regular prevention of heartworm disease, the use of a single active ingredient is preferred.

SPECIAL WARNINGS
For veterinary use only. Prescription by a veterinarian is required.

OVERDOSAGE
In case of overdose, some cats may exhibit muscle tremors. Symptoms will spontaneously disappear within a day. No antidote is known.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
Echinococcosis is dangerous for humans. In cases of echinococcosis, specific guidelines must be followed during and after treatment to protect individuals. Consultation with specialists or parasitology institutes is recommended. No studies have been conducted on cats or individuals with severe physical debilitation, whose kidney or liver function is severely compromised. The product is not recommended for these animals unless evaluated for risk/benefit by the responsible veterinarian. Wash your hands after use.

USE DURING PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
The product can be used in breeding cats, including cats during pregnancy and lactation.
