Caniverm Junior is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic specifically formulated for puppies, small dogs, and cats. The smaller tablet size makes it easy to administer to younger and smaller animals, providing effective protection against parasitic infections caused by roundworms and tapeworms.
Composition (per 0.175g tablet):
- Fenbendazole: 37.5 mg
- Pyrantel embonate: 36 mg
- Praziquantel: 12.5 mg
Mode of action:
- Fenbendazole: Blocks the polymerization of tubulin, a key protein in the parasite's cells, disrupting its essential functions and eliminating roundworms and some tapeworms.
- Pyrantel embonate: Acts as a nicotinic cholinergic antagonist, paralyzing the worms by interfering with their nerve and muscle function.
- Praziquantel: Increases the permeability of the parasite’s cell membranes to calcium ions, leading to muscle contractions, paralysis, and eventual death of tapeworms.
Indications:
For the treatment of parasitic infections in puppies, small dogs, and cats caused by:
- Toxocara canis, Toxocara cati, Toxascaris leonina
- Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum, Trichuris vulpis
- Echinococcus granulosus, Echinococcus multilocularis
- Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp., Multiceps multiceps, Mesocestoides spp.
Dosage:
- Puppies, small dogs, and cats: 1 tablet for 0.5–2 kg body weight
- For larger animals, increase the dosage as appropriate (e.g., 2 tablets per 2–5 kg body weight).
Administration:
Administer orally in a single dose. The tablets can be given directly or mixed with food. No special diet is required.
Precautions:
- Begin deworming puppies at 3 weeks of age, then continue regularly every 3 months.
- Not intended for use in animals used for human consumption.
