Route of Administration: Oral
Recommended Dosage: The minimum recommended dose is 2 mg milbemycin oxime and 5 mg praziquantel per kg body weight, administered orally as a single dose. The product should be administered with or after feeding to ensure optimal protection against heartworm. The recommended dosage according to the cat's body weight is as follows:
Body Weight | Number of Tablets |
---|---|
0.5 - 1 kg | ½ tablet |
> 1 - 2 kg | 1 tablet |
If treatment against cestodes is also necessary, the product can be used for the prophylactic treatment of heartworm. For the prevention of heartworm: the product destroys the larvae of Dirofilaria immitis up to one month after transmission by mosquitoes. For regular preventive treatment of heartworm, it is preferable to use a single substance.
Specifications: It is recommended to treat all animals in the shelter simultaneously. To develop an effective infestation control program, local epidemiological data and the risk of exposure for the cat should be considered, and professional advice is recommended. In the presence of infestation with D. caninum, to prevent reinfestation, concurrent treatment against intermediate hosts, fleas, and lice should be considered. After frequent and repeated use of an anthelmintic, resistance of parasites to that class of anthelmintics may occur.
Adverse Reactions: In very rare cases, following the administration of the milbemycin oxime and praziquantel combination, particularly in young cats, systemic signs (lethargy), neurological signs (muscle tremors and ataxia), and/or gastrointestinal signs (vomiting and diarrhea) have been observed. Very rare hypersensitivity reactions have also been reported after administration of the product.
Precautions: Clinical studies have not been conducted on cats with severe physical debilitation or severely compromised kidney or liver function. The product is not recommended for these animals and may only be used after a risk/benefit assessment performed by the responsible veterinarian. Ensure that cats weighing between 0.5 kg and <2 kg receive the appropriate concentration tablets (4 mg milbemycin oxime and 10 mg praziquantel) and the corresponding dose (½ or 1 tablet) for their weight category (½ tablet for cats weighing 0.5 to 1 kg; 1 tablet for cats weighing >1 to 2 kg). The tablets are flavored, so they should be kept in a secure place and not left within reach of animals.
Use During Pregnancy, Lactation, or Laying Period: The veterinary medicinal product can be used in breeding cats, including pregnant and lactating females.
Storage: No special storage conditions are required. Keep in the original packaging.
